Dances are held every Thursday evening from 7 pm - 9 pm.
Ecstatic Dance is a freeform dance practice that invites participants to move authentically to a diverse selection of music. There is no choreography, no judgment, and no requirements for what counts as dance. Dancers are encouraged to dance together, with consent, while also exploring the edges of their individual movement practice. A rotating crew of DJs is responsible for creating a set for each dance. The music selection typically follows a wave-like pattern, in which the beginning rhythms are calm and mellow, the middle rhythms are more upbeat and energetic as the music builds to a crescendo, and the final rhythms move back down the wave into a place of stillness. Dances are not guided, and dancers are asked to avoid speaking while they are dancing (non-verbal forms of vocal expression are welcome).
Dances are held every Thursday evening from 7 pm - 9 pm. Dances typically start with an opening circle in which the guidelines are explained and the dancers introduce themselves, and they typically end with a closing circle in which the dancers are invited to share something about their experience of the dance.
Ecstatic Dance is open to all bodies and all ages. There is no cost to attend, but donations are welcome to support the use of the space.
Weekly Meditation Sit
The public is invited to join us every Wednesday from 6:30-8:00 pm for an InSpire gathering at Shanti at Deer Park Farm. These gatherings provide a community of support to learn to be present in the moment, experiencing what is actually happening, rather than living a memory of the past or a dream of the future. We gather to share practices and experiences, and to be present with one another in an understanding, friendly environment. The group is facilitated by Lori Marsh (marshes@vt.edu) and all are welcome to contribute ideas, practices and topics for discussion. All of you is welcome here.
Movement, Breath, Eros, Resonance.
Sabine Mead is a registered somatic movement educator and Continuum Teacher. Her origins in movement improvisation and dance set the tone for a life of movement inquiry. After many years of in-depth studies in somatic modalities and teaching yoga since 1994, Sabine was introduced to Continuum in 2003 and mentored with Emilie Conrad throughout the remainder of Emilie’s life. Sabine, authorized in 2007 by Emilie, is now a founding member of Continuum Teachers Association. Living the art of Continuum while innovating and creating an array of inquiries is her life’s work and path. Her bodies of work include; Alchemy of Eros ~ Rewilding Your Bodyscape, Igniting Your Life Flame; The Primordial Depths Retreat; We Are The Stars and Opening Our Resonant Body. Sabine currently resides and teaches in Floyd County, Virginia.
Enter Ceremonial Space with a Cacao Prayer
As a Mexican immigrant, I found myself vulnerable when it comes to witness Mexican and Latina Cultures expressing in a different country. After months of reflection I decided to unite my voice to the call coming form Mayan Medicine People...this is their message to you/us.
"Ceremonial cacao is a native creole species sown, grown, harvested, fermented and toasted under ancestral prayers that only Mayan People know. Cacao Ceremony is used to heal diseases, problems, difficulties within a family, community or a member of the community.
The server knows, practices and lives the Mayan Cosmo Vision of the world.
He/She knows how to call for protection and to connect with the Spirt of Cacao and the Cacao Plantations.
She/He is initiated and presented to the Spirit of Cacao in the Milpa.
Please do not call Cacao Ceremony if you haven't been initiated in our cosmo vision of the world. We love you and want you to
Please call it Cacao Circle and help us preserved our culture and traditions as SACRED."
This is virtual space to share Cacao Ceremonies and Cacao Circles host in Floyd County VA. It is my dream and hope to keep sharing their messages while I continue studying, connecting and practicing the ways of Mexica Sacred Ceremonies in the US.
